Superstar NFL receiver Randy Moss skated into the first day of Raiders training camp Friday on 30 inch spinning rims with a license plate that read “Tipp Drill 84”. His teammates looked on in admiration. “I dig the color,” said backup quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo, referring to the bright purple SUV with no door handles.
Moss may soon need to paint over the purple color seeing that he is no longer with Minnesota and his new team colors are silver and black. The Raiders acquired Moss in a trade back in March and they look to him to help lead them back to the Super Bowl where they were in 2003.
As for his bad boy antics, the team is willing to look past all that and accept him as he is. “Randy Moss is going to be himself, and that’s the bottom line,”‘ quarterback Kerry Collins said. “Guys will respect that.”

Super producer Pharrell Williams will be creating the soundtrack for an upcoming Sci-Fi movie. While Star Trek might be your first guess, Pharrell will be scoring and producing the film version of one of the hottest cartoons of the 80’s: Voltron.
Featuring five incredibly distinct pilots (Keith, Lance, Hunk, Pidge, Princess Allura), Voltron debuted in 1984 and battled with The Transformers for fan support on TV and at the local toy store.
The plot of the movie will center on the pilots making their way to the planet of Arus, so they can learn how to operate Voltron. Using this huge weapon, which can only be formed after all five of their separate ships have come together, they will battle Drule and his minions.
Providing production of a different variety, Mark Gordon (Saving Private Ryan) will produce the film while the Executive Producers will be Mark Costa and Ford Oleman of New line Cinema.

For those of you who are like me, and have been trying to call Mike Jones on his now infamous, highly publicized cell phone number, have no fear. His phone is not disconnected like many thought, it is just busy because he receives about 3,000 calls a day.
Some callers were disappointed when they received a message saying that the call could not be completed. Keep trying. When you reach him, be sure to congratulate him on his album going platinum and tell him to “holla at a playa”.

On Thursday (July 28), there was an important announcement for viewers of BET’s 106 & Park.
AJ Calloway and Free announced that they would no longer be hosting 106 & Park.
AJ, who was on air alone, broke down into an emotional state as he voiced to the audience and viewers, “ I got real emotional…. There’s nothing like 106 & Park, it’s been a staple in the African-American community for a long, long time. Five years strong and hopefully it will continue with whoever’s in the reigns without myself and Free.
Both AJ and Free have been at 106 since its inception back in the fall of 2000, when the show was located in Harlem, NY. In March 2002, BET moved into Viacom’s CBS Broadcast Center in Manhattan.
The reasons behind their abrupt exit from the show has not been disclosed. However, there has been speculation that there has been friction with upper management in recent weeks. There hasn’t been any comment from a BET representative as of yet.
AJ mentioned his plans of opening a restaurant in Brooklyn as well as running his management company. Free has plans of pursuing her music career.
AJ closed the show saying, “It’s not the last time you will see us… you might see us somewhere else. We love ya’ll. Live, love, life.”
At this point, the replacement hosts have not been named.

Ron Artest is back and it’s as if he never left. At least that’s what those around him think.
You may remember that the Indiana Pacers forward was suspended for the rest of the NBA season in 2004 for his part in the worst brawl in NBA history. Artest fought with players and fans and was suspended without pay, causing him to lose $5 million dollars.
Maybe that was just the break that he needed. As it turns out, just before the incident took place he asked team management if he could take a month off from playing basketball so that he could rest up from the stress of promoting his rap album.

Bad times seemed like they were all behind him when he recently stepped on the court at a Minnesota summer league game and drilled his first shot from the 3-point line. “Stopping on a dime and throwing it up and making it swish, that was cool,” said Artest. This upcoming season he will begin the road back to NBA stardom.

G-Unit member Tony Yayo recently sat down and chopped it up with MTV on his thoughts about his debut release—”Thoughts of a Pedicate Felon“. Yayo’s project was already supposed to be out, but was pushed back.
Yayo’s forthcoming project should be released some time in August. His album was pushed back because of “travel constraints”, which are a part of his state parole restrictions and federal probation. Yayo wasn’t able to fully promote his album to his liking, which led to the hold off of the release date.
Yayo also spoke out on the 50/G-Unit vs. Game beef. Yayo said, “People should view him for what he is. I think he got game too fast. Some dudes don’t know how to handle fame.”

A Federal court in New York City has ruled in favor of Genard Parker in his breach of contract suit against Ashanti. After four days of court proceedings, Ashanti has been ordered to pay $630,000 for breaching a contract that she signed with Genard Parker, her first producer.
The contract for producing services was signed in 1996 when Ashanti was 16 years old. According to Ashanti, Parker did not fulfill his part of the contract. In her testimony, Ashanti stressed the unprofessional conduct that took place during the one year they worked together. She alleged that recordings took place at his home, not in a studio, and that the situation was so bad she had to record her vocals in his bathroom.
The prosecution however, convinced the court that Ashanti breached the contract with Mr. Parker when she failed to keep up her end of a subsequent release agreement. Mr. Parker agreed to release Ashanti from her contract to sign with Murder Inc. on the condition that he would be able to produce two of the songs on her debut album with the new label. The court found that while he did produce the tracks, he never received royalties from the star.
While stressing that he did not want there to be any hard feelings between himself and the singer, Mr. Parker stated he was grateful to finally get the recognition he felt he deserved.
